The sonos app on the Iphone works so well I had to copy it's style for my HSTouch application. I always wanted Sonos to control my video and other devices so here's what i've built so far. It's along way from finished or tidy and will be changing alot over the next few months.

Pan Tilt and Zoom(PTZ) Dome cameras don't normally come cheap. But take a look round ebay and you'll think otherwise. The specifications always look good, but are they worth the money?

Sonos distributes audio from any PC or NAS over IP (wifi or wired) to any room in your house. Any fool can distribute audio throughout their house using Sonos. It's the Apple Iphone of the multiroom audio world. I bought my first Sonos boxes about 4 or 5 years ago and haven't once regretted buying them. The wife loves it because it's easy to use and my friends love it when they come round for a few beers. It's a winner all round. Oh, and I think it's pretty good too.

If you don't like the look of having CCTV cams slapped all over your house or you're a bit nosey, best buy a smaller cctv camera like a bullet cam for instance. Stick it in a bush and away you go!!

I'm not an Apple fan, but the I Phone and I Touch are nice pieces of tech kit. Other brands are catching up, but hardware wise the Ipod ITouch or Iphone is my choice for home control. It's not as easy as plugging everything in and watching it turn your lights on and off but depending on your server software choice it can be easier than you think if someone points you in the right direction.

If you have subscribed to Sky Multiroom and have your Sky boxes in different rooms where the IR signals can't conflict you won't need to read this article. But, if you want to distribute more than one Sky box throughout your house from a central location you will run into problems.

If you're building a multiroom system for your house the control room(node 0) or shall we say control cupboard is the easiest way to manage all your tech devices and keep clutter out of sight. If your wife or girlfriend won't let you have the space remind them of how they'll be saving space and unsightly wires. I must admit, it did take time to convince the gf that sacrificing some storage space was worth it. She now thinks it was a great idea because it keeps all my tech in one place and the house tidy. It's a point scorer! Win Win!

Before you start cabling think about what you are trying to achieve. Start simple at first. I'll use my install as an example. I started off thinking about my video and audio.
